  • The story behind the badges

    Ena Collymore-Woodstock OD MB travelled from Jamaica to join the ATS in 1943, when Black women were finally allowed to enlist. She blazed a trail for more than 600 women of colour who joined from British colonised territories in the Caribbean. Learn more about Ena here.

Looking for ways to mark the day?

Remembrance can mean different things to different people. These activities are a great way to explore what it means to your unit – from the poppy fields of the first world war, to stories of women working in the resistance during the second world war. Think too about those who protect and support us today, from police officers to supermarket workers.
